TWO New Companies join PRS’ Innovation Display Board Purification of Low Solubility Products... Dynamic Extractions Ltd, a UK company based in Slough are now actively marketing their range of HPCCC (Counter Current Chromatography) systems for separation problems where product solubility causes the use of solid phase support media to become expensive or time consuming. Using two immiscible solvent phases, this emerging technology avoids blockages or restricted flow caused by precipitating materials, and a convenient continuous flow system can be established from lab scale to manufacturing scale processes. Organic or aqueous solvent systems are normally used for small molecular weight chemical and peptide purification processes. Chromatography in Presence of Particulates... Proxcys BV based in Emmen, Netherlands have developed a new unique technology for process column inlet design. Their range of Axcis columns utilise a patented tangential flow inlet design which keeps the inlet screen clear of particulates contained within the load material. These columns permit use of particulate-containing streams with any traditional process resin without prefiltering. They thus offer a convenient and scaleable alternative to expanded bed systems, but with any resin and with any mode of chromatography. Consortium Developing Influenza Vaccine Enters Clinical Phase 1 Study BIA Separations feature in a recent Press Release which describes new work being undertaken by a European Based Consortium to develop and manufacture a new Nasal Spray vaccine as part of the EU strategy for future pandemic preparedness. http://www.biaseparations.com/#news The key requirement under such an emergency is to keep response timeframes as short as possible, and thus productivity and speed become critical to any process developed, such that the maximum number of lives may be saved from such virus mediated pandemic threats. Disposable Columns for Detergent Removal from Atoll GmbH A new range of process columns have been designed, packed with your preferred resin for detergent removal, for any application at process scale. For those applications which involve virus or other biohazard preparation, these acrylic devices are a convenient solution to disposal problems, as they may be incinerated and are available at lower cost than alternative column designs. Quality packing procedures ensure efficiency and productivity within processes to manufacturing scales. |

PRS Ltd welcomes BIA Separations WHY IS MONOLITHIC CHROMATOGRAPHY SO DIFFERENT? The range of monolithic media from BIA Separations complements and extends applications for traditional particulate resin based products for which Atoll GmbH provide resin screening. CIM® monolithic media from BIA Separations opens a new chapter for virus, pDNA and large protein purification in a way which has never been possible with traditional particulate media. Dramatically higher linear flow rates can now be used to capture such products to the stationary phase due to the unique pore morphology of this remarkable material. No particulate resin can approach the astoundingly high mass transfer kinetics for very large biomolecules and nanoparticles (pDNA, Viruses etc) CIM® monolith is simply an astounding new material for purification of such products.
